Snowboarding

Snowboarding is a popular winter sport where riders attach their feet to snowboards and slide down snow covered mountains.

Snowboarding Styles

There are three distinct styles of snowboarding including:

freeride which involves snowboarding around the mountain,
• freestyle snowboarding where riders performing a variety of tricks,
• alpine snowboarding which consists of sharp turns through the art of carving,
• backcountry snowboarding where enthusiasts venture out of the confines of resorts in search of fresh snow.

Snowboarding Equipment

Apart from standard snow clothing used to keep skiers warm and dry, snowboarding equipment consists of:

• snowboards which are the boards used for sliding through the snow,
• snowboarding bindings which attach the snowboards to the boots of riders,
• snowboarding boots which keep feet warm, comfortable and firmly attached to their bindings,
• stomp pads to provide traction when riders are skating with their rear foot loose,
• leashes to prevent snowboards from gliding away by accident.
