Mountain Biking

Mountain Biking

Mountain biking involves the riding of bicycles off paved roads on dirt roads, fire roads, access roads, park trails and mountain trails.

Mountain biking requires a combination of endurance, bike handling and repair skills and a strong ethic of self-reliance.

Mountain Biking Gear

There are three main categories of mountain biking i.e. cross country, downhill, and freeriding.

All mountain bikes, however, are similar in look with knobby tires, large round tubing, and suspension or shock absorber systems.

Mountain bikes are smaller in size to road racing bicyles as they have a smaller but stronger frame and wheels that are wider but smaller in diameter.

In addition, a lower range of gears better facilitate riding up steep hills and over obstacles while a wider, flat or raised handlebar allows riding in a more upright position.

Mountain Biking Trips

Mountain biking trips and tours can be organised to allow riders to explore the globe and discover foreign cultures and destinations by riding through trails anywhere from Peru, Canada and various sections of Europe.
